Ants Must Die

If I had to choose one insect that I would like to rid the world of, it would be ants. This time of year is when they are most active, especially in my house. Every spring I spray the outside of the house to help deter wasps and ants from getting in, but they always beat me to the punch. This year is no different, and is actually worse than usual. (more…)

Its a Cold, Windy, Dark and Stormy Day

I woke up this morning to the sounds of rain and wind at my window. This time of year around here is both beautiful and frustrating dpending on the day. Yesterday it was 65 degrees and sunny. Today it is supposed to be 45 degrees with rain and wind. A 20 degree difference in 24 hours. That’s just ridiculous and hard for anyone to swallow. I’mm off to spend a few minutes with the kids before they go off to school, then it’sa nose to the grindstone. I have a lot of work to finish up before Thursday.

I Started Working Out (again)

I started working out again this week because I have been feeling like crap. I need to try and drop a few pounds and get myself feeling better. I am beginning with a basic routine of alternating aerobic and strength training days. I have been hitting the treadmill a couple times a week and either doing squats and pushups or lifting weights. I am not doing too much until I get myself used to a routine and make sure I am not going to hurt myself doing this. Without consulting a medical professional, I’m afraid to overdo it. I’m not as young as I used to be you know.

I Paid $2.43 per Gallon for Gas Today!

I went to Costco to pick up a few things and while I Was there I decided to fill up my tank. Now, I love Costco as it is, but paying less for gas always makes me feel good. The lowest price for gas along the way was $2.55/gallon. Costco had it for $2.43/gallon. So I filled up and it only came to about $25.00. That is a dollar per gallon less than it was a month ago around here.

Then I go into Costco looking for King Crab legs. We’ve been yearning for crab for the past few weeks so today I decided to go ahead and surprise everyone with some crab. Cost co had it for $12.99/pound. I’m not sure if that is the best price around or not, but I know it is pretty good. Plus, the crab legs they sell and huge. Some of the grocery stores sell the skinny crab legs, but those are awful. Costco has nice meaty ones. So I got a little under 2 pounds for about $25.00. Dinner can’t come soon enough.

I went just before lunch time today and as I looked around, I noticed that the place is like a senior center at lunch time. They all go for the free samples and the $1.00 pizza. WTF? People were standing around in a crowd to get a cracker with Bruscetta on it. I couldn’t got over it. SO I quick-grabbed my crab and got the hell out of Dodge. Of course, the lines were about five deep with old people moving along like they wanted the day to last forever. I managed to control my impatience and got out of there with my sanity in tact.

That’s my big news for today. Obama is giving his final speech right now. Sounds like a sermon. Sadly, I think he’s going to win. Then you’ll all see the real Obama.

OJ Simpson Guilty Verdict - Score One for Justice

Justice finally prevailed and OJ Simpson was found guilty in his kidnapping trial. Many people have been watching the O J Simpson trial waiting to see what the jury would decide. Many people, myself included, believe he killed his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and was incorrectly acquitted in his murder case. He got away with murder. Where was the justice?

Well here you go. Justice made an appearance and saw to it that the OJ Simpson Verdict came back with guilty. He deserves to be in jail. OJ Simpson could be sentenced to life in prison for his crimes.

Sick as a Dog

I have been feeling lousy ever since the weather started changing the other day up here. I’ve been sleeping a lot and just feeling completely drained. I finally pulled out my laptop to catch up on some work, but I can’t really focus. So, I figured I would make a post about it. Why? I have no idea.

Tomorrow I expect to be feeling better but I’m still going to take it easy because I am going out to brunch on Sunday. Several members of my family are getting together so it should be fun. I’ve been looking at this screen for 10 minutes now so I better go back to the TV where I don’t have to think.

Sarah Palin Follow Up - All I Can Say Is WOW!

It turns out that I love this woman. I was so impressed by her speech that I actually fell in love with her. I am almost embarrassed by my previous post now that I know a little more about her. I guess McCain is a little smarter than me after all.

If you haven’t seen Governor Palin’s speech at the Republican National Convention, here is a video. She made some great digs at Obama that actually made me laugh out loud. She’s gorgeous too!

Let’s update that photo too okay.

Sarah Palin

There we go. It’s still going to be a tough race for the presidency, but I think they will win.

Sarah Palin - Didn’t See That One Coming

Who saw that one coming? Not me that’s for sure. No sooner did I post about the Dems being freaks when the Republicans pull a stunt like this. The state of politics in this country is pathetic. Why in the hell would McCain select Sarah Palin as his VP? Hard to tell for sure, but my money is on this:

Sarah Palin Beauty Queen

At least it will be fun calling her “The Hunter” while all this is going on.

Back to School Today and Democrats are Freaks

Thanks for visiting ErikZavala.com. I haven’t been posting as much as I wanted to but I do like doing it. Hopefully I will get better at making regular posts. Anyway, my kids went back to school today so I guess summer is now officially over by our local school standards. I still don’t understand why they have them go back before Labor Day. Actually I do, bureaucratic laziness. (more…)
