Ants Must Die
If I had to choose one insect that I would like to rid the world of, it would be ants. This time of year is when they are most active, especially in my house. Every spring I spray the outside of the house to help deter wasps and ants from getting in, but they always beat me to the punch. This year is no different, and is actually worse than usual.
Ants are starting to appear in random places all over the house. They are the larger, carpenter type ants that are wandering around looking for food and water sources for the larger colony that exists somewhere hidden. I started out by spraying the quick kill stuff in the areas where I really don’t want them and now I am placing baits around so the ones that come around bring the poison back to their home base and kill every one else off. They are the most annoying and hardest to get rid of pest I deal with. Bees and wasps come around, and I really cannot stand them, but they are easy to control if you stay on top of it. Ants are different.
This time I bought Terro, which is a Borax based ant control product. It is a liquid and you place a few drops onto a piece of cardboard or paper and leave all over the place where ants are seen in the hopes that the ants will take the bait and bring it back to the mother ship, killing all the rest. So far, I haven’t seen any ants near the baits I left. I see ants in the middle of a room or on a wall, but not around the bait. Maybe Terro is not working? Too soon to decide that.
I am finding a lot of dead ants around because of the other spraying I did inside and out previously. I will give this stuff a week or two and then go for something else if needed. Hopefully these buggers will stay in check and not come out in droves. Once in a previous home I found where the ents were living. I sprayed the area and into the entry holes and they came puring out like crazy. Literally hundreds of ants flodding into the bedroom. Nasty stuff. I fouhgt hard and defeated them, as I will with these ants. Ants must die!
